Year 10 student’s involvement with local football team celebrated

A Year 10 student from The Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College has recently picked up a local sports award in recognition of her efforts and commitment as a young volunteer.

Chloe Raine, who belongs to the school’s Garrick House, plays for and regularly volunteers with Rugby Town Girls’ Football Club. Chloe was nominated by her football club in the category ‘Young Volunteer of the Year’ in the Rugby Sports Awards. Chloe, who is already her club’s young volunteer of the year, was nominated in recognition of the time she gives up to coach younger children at the club.

Each year Rugby Borough Council, the Rugby Advertiser and Rugby FM team up to recognise and reward the Borough’s most dedicated and talented sports people with the ‘Rugby Sports Awards’. This year’s award ceremony was held on 28th February 2018 at the Benn Hall with England cricketer Ian Bell as the guest speaker.

Alison Davies, Headteacher, said, “It is always nice to hear about our students’ success whether it be in, or outside of, school. It is therefore wonderful to hear about the award Chloe has received for her football coaching.”
