Year 7 student claims gold medal in West Midlands Championships.

A Year 7 student, from The Avon Valley School and Performing Arts College, has won a gold medal after competing in a gymnastics championship competition held recently in Stoke-on-Trent.

Garrick House student Harry Lynch, won gold in the floor and vault category of the West Midlands George Finney Championships 2018. Previously, Harry has won three bronze, and three silver medals and was delighted to have been presented with his first gold medal.

Harry, who trains twice per week with Rugby Gymnastics Club, said “I was really surprised, at first we couldn’t hear who’d won, and when I found out it was me I was really shocked. I was given a gold medal and trophy to take home.”

Alison Davies, Headteacher, said, “I am delighted to hear about Harry’s success at his latest gymnastics competition. As a school we encourage all students to aim high in all aspects of their lives, Harry has certainly done this and has been rewarded with a gold medal.”
