School Results

The Avon Valley School is delighted to report an excellent set of examination results for the class of 2015-2016. With the hard work of students and teachers, and the support of parents and carers, 58% of students achieved a grade A*- C in both Maths and English.

Attainment in both Maths and English was particularly strong this year with both subjects well above the national average. The Maths results of 65% A*- C are a significant increase on last years figures whilst the English results of 72% A*- C show that students continue to perform very strongly in this subject area.

Analysis of the data shows that many faculty areas achieved strong results, representing the Arts, Social Studies, Technology and ICT, and of course the core subjects. These results reflect the ability of the school to unlock the potential of all our students, allowing them to reach their personal goals and provide a springboard for the next stage in their life. They also remind the school community that achievement is at the core to our success at The Avon Valley School.

Moreover, students considered to be ‘upper-ability’ achieved fantastic results, comparable with other successful schools within the town and beyond. Noticeable successes are numerous and include:

Roanna Pedley - 8A*, 4A, 1C; Shannon Mahal - 10A*, 3A, 1B; Spondan Biswas - 3A*, 9A; Weronika Kowalczuk – 4A*, 7A, 2 B and Santa Svike – 1A*, 9A, 2B.

The school is incredibly proud of this year group and what it has achieved. The vast majority of students will now continue with their education at college or sixth form, while others will go into modern apprenticeships; all should be filled with self-confidence from their successes this summer.
