Careers

Career – an individual’s progression through learning and work (Careers strategy: making the most of everyone’s skills and talents December 2017).
Careers education and career information, advice and guidance aim to enable individuals to become lifelong planners and managers of their own careers within a rapidly changing world of work and learning. At AVS we have a stable careers programme with access to support for developing career management skills, employability skills and independent learning skills. Every student and their parents can access good quality information about future study options and labour market opportunities.
The AVS careers lead is Mrs Lisa Owen (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.) and the careers coordinator/advisor is Mrs Di Jones (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
The eight Gatsby benchmarks (2014) provide a clear blueprint of what good careers provision looks like and are based on best national and international research, and define all the elements of an excellent careers programme.
